Privacy notice
Last updated 23 October 2026
This notice explains what personal information IsItDownUK (isitdownuk.co.uk) collects, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
IsItDownUK is run by [Your name or company], the data controller for this site. Contact us at hello@isitdownuk.co.uk.
What we collect and why
- Website checks. When you check a website, we store the address you entered and the result for up to 60 seconds.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes IP addresses and browser details to deliver the site and block abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
- Cookies. Analytics and advertising cookies are only used if you agree. See cookie settings.
Advertising
We show ads to keep the site free. If you allow advertising cookies, our ad partners, such as Google, may use cookies to personalise ads and measure them. If you don't, you may still see ads that aren't personalised. You can learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Who we share data with
We use Cloudflare (hosting and security) and, with your consent, analytics and advertising partners. Some of these may process data outside the UK under approved safeguards. We never sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
- Website check results: 60 seconds.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to answer you, then up to 12 months.
- Server logs: as set by Cloudflare, usually days rather than months.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@isitdownuk.co.uk and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
