What to do if first direct isn't working

1. If the first direct app won't work, try online banking in a web browser, or the other way round.
2. If a card payment fails, try chip and PIN instead of contactless, another card, or cash.
3. Don't make the same payment twice. Check your balance later to see whether the first one went through.
4. Be careful of scams during outages. first direct will never ask you to move money or share your PIN or passcodes.
5. If a payment is urgent, call first direct using the number on the back of your card.

Our check tests the public first direct website. Its app, sign-in or other services can still have problems while the website is up.
